August Favorites

Hello!

Here are my 5 favorites for the month of August

1. Favorite purchase
This bralette from Aerie is amazing. I own it in both the off white and black color. Besides it being pretty, it has great coverage, is slightly padded (they can be removed!) and can be made into a racerback with the built in clasp on the back straps. It is a smooth lace, so other than the seam going down the middle of each pad, the lace doesn't show through what you are wearing. I went with a size small. In the next few weeks I will be sharing how I have worn it!

2. Favorite experience
Was definitely getting to take my daughter on her first airplane ride. I will be sharing with you my tips of flying/traveling with a toddler next week. I will say that she loved flying!

3. Favorite drink
I've been drinking bulletproof coffee for many years now and it's definitely my prefered way to drink coffee. You can play around with the ratio that best suits you and your taste buds, but here is base for you to start with. Occasionally I will even add a tiny bit of honey if I want it to be a bit more "dessert" like.

  • 1 tablespoon high quality butter (you can use clarified butter/ghee if you want it to be dairy free!). I prefer to use Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter (grass-fed, all-natural)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 8 - 10 ounces strong coffee. I don't have a coffee maker so I use my french press.

Instructions:

Add butter and oil to your coffee cup or into a blender. Pour hot coffee over top. Blend with a stick blender or in your blender.

Not only does it taste good, similar to a latte without the sugar but it keeps you full longer and gives you energy. You can read more about it and all the benefits from drinking it here

4. Favorite snack
POPCORN! I also love it for dinner, anyone else?
I love making popcorn in my whirlypop (thanks to Deanna, From This Kitchen Table, for telling me about it). Not only is it fresh, cleaner ingredients and tastes better, but I am able to control what oil and much I want to use. I typically do 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1/2 a cup of kernels. Once it is done, I let it sit for a few minutes while I melt 1-2 tablespoons of butter in the microwave. Drizzle the butter on, lightly salt it and sometimes I'll sprinkle some Topsy's cheddar cheese on it. So good! It did take me a few times in the beginning to find what ratio to use to get it to my liking.

5. Favorite quote
I am constantly working on myself. Fighting that sinful, selfish nature and trying to daily pick up the cross, to become more Christ-like and to the best version of myself. I get discouraged when I don't "change fast enough" but I have to stop and remember that there is a lot of pain and hurt that I am still having to work through.
There are days where we all feel defeated and beat ourselves up. It's hard learning how to be perfectly okay with ‘what is,’ rather than wishing for and worrying about ‘what is not’ or 'what could be.' I want you to know that you are not alone in this crazy journey through life, even though there are times that you feel like it. You are amazing, you have a purpose and you are so loved.
