A Fun Monthly Theme For a Purpose Filled Life
For last year’s words belong to last year’s language,
And next year’s words await another voice.
What we call the beginning is often the end,
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
— T.S. Eliot

I had shared over on my Instagram stories that I had printed out the free Commit30 trial. Well, actually, I have two copies now because I “messed up” on my first one. I have never been one to use a planner but I am at the point in my life that I know I would get a lot out of it - in many ways. As I was brainstorming and working on filling it out I got inspired to share some of the thoughts and ideas that came to my mind.

In the Commit30 journal you are suppose to come up with a Monthly goal as well as a something you commit to for 30 days. They could be two completely different things or they could correlate. I began writing down ideas for what those goals and commitments could be and from there blossomed an idea.

Monthly Themes.

Benefits of having monthly themes:
- Help you to make choices during the month.
- Help you to keep your focus on different things you want to be intentional and mindful about.

The ideas for monthly themes are plentiful. So many great ones that cater to whatever season of life and growth you are in, or areas that you want focus on. BUT I had this fun idea to have monthly themes based off of the meaning of each month’s birth flower.

January - Carnation - Self Love.
Thoughts and Ideas: Practice self care, set boundaries, be mindful, do what you need not always what you want, say no, nourish your body with good food and drinks, tell yourself something positive everyday, surround yourself with people who encourage you and love you, take yourself out on a date, read a book catered to self love.
February
- Violet - True Love.
Thoughts and Ideas: (emotionally) Connect to those you love, practice treating others with respect even when you don’t feel like they deserve it, show compassion, be responsive when others are communicating to you, engage and listen deeply, do things with no attachment, leave “I Love You” notes for loved ones to find, be transparent, take people out on dates (children, friends, family members, etc) and spend quality time with them.
March
- Cherry Blossom - Gratitude.
Thoughts and Ideas: being thankful in all things, show appreciation, return kindness, find beauty in the moment - the fleeting and cherished moments, choose little things to show and express your gratitude to those around you, start a gratitude journal, leave little thank you notes - bottom of the receipt, in a family members lunch box, etc, spend intentional time with others.
April
- Daisy - Purity.
Thoughts and Ideas: Fresh starts and new ventures, keeping your word, being honest and truthful - seeking integrity, rest, using clean(er) products,
May
- Lily of the Valley - Happiness.
Thoughts and Ideas: take note of all the little things in life that bring us joy, choose one action that you do daily (like brush your teeth, walk through a doorway, etc.) and think of one thing that makes you feel grateful and happy, do random acts of kindness, do things you love, smile, look at the funny side of things, make time for hobbies.
June
- Rose - Balance.
Thoughts and Ideas: create time for things that you have to do as well as that you want to do, eat well but also enjoy special treats that you normally don’t indulge on, take care of yourself so that you are able to take of others, enjoy doing things that are in your comfort but also stretch and put yourself out there, make conscious decisions.
July
- Lotus - Personal Growth.
Thoughts and Ideas: An awakening and expansion of the soul, do something outside of your comfort zone, make fear your friend, find a mentor, reflect at the end of each day, read, set goals, create a reward system for yourself when you hit certain goals, leave yourself reminders of what you are striving for, evaluate yourself - areas you strong in and areas you want to improve.
August
- Poppy - Dreams.
Thoughts and Ideas: create a list of all the things you hope to become, achieve and create in life, break free from the limitations we put on ourselves and dream with no limitations, write them down, what do you want in 1 year, 5 years and in 10 years? What does your life look life? What does it feel like? Raise your standards and set the bar high for yourself, take time to yourself to let you mind waunder.
September
- Peony - Faith.
Thoughts and Ideas: finding peace in not knowing the outcome and finding joy in the journey, put complete trust in others, recognize that you have no control but know that good things will come out of it, put others first, give back, think about what your purpose is in life, find tools to help you overcome stress and fear.
October
- Marigold - Reminisce.
Thoughts and Ideas: Remember the past, the good and bad, swap old stories with friends and family, write a letter to someone or even write a letter to your future self, share your thoughts, feelings, experiences and things you have learned throughout your life and the things you have endured.
November
- Chrysanthemum - Optimism.
Thoughts and Ideas: Even the beginning of a cold, harsh winter can have joy and beauty, try to find the positive side of things, keep hope, leave notes of encouragement, create positive mantras, reminding yourself that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, reach out to others and be a ray of sunshine, find a role model, start a gratitude journal, focus on what is working.
December
- Holly - Strength.
Ideas: Love and dedication to things that mean the most to you, make a list of strengths that you have, share with others what strengths you see in them, use some of your strengths to help others, turn some of your strengths into habits.
